Why is my air conditioning system not cooling my home the way it had in previous years?
One of the most common questions we get this time of year is “why is my air conditioning system not cooling my home the way it had in previous years?” Here are a few simple fixes that could help your cooling system get back on track.
- Check your air filter. A dirty air filter blocks return airflow to your air conditioner. This makes it harder for your air conditioner to circulate the amount of cooled air needed back into your home.
- Check your thermostat settings. Make certain that the system is set to cooling mode and the fan settings are on auto.
- Have your system cleaned professionally. If the outdoor air conditioning or indoor coil unit haven’t been cleaned recently, there may be an obstruction that is causing the unit to not work effectively.
If you’ve tried all of the above, and your A/C STILL isn’t cooling your home well, then you’ll need a professional’s help. They can check for things like low refrigerant, malfunctioning condenser fan, malfunctioning compressor, and so forth.
